This is the original site of Yashima Temple. It is said that Ganjin (Jianzhen) visited Yashima on his way to the capital, built a hall on this site, and enshrined within it a statue of Fugen Bosatsu (Samantabhadra Bodhisattva). A survey conducted in 1999 confirmed the ruins of a building built on foundation stones. The ruins were identified as a temple by a multi-spout vase, an artifact from a Buddhist altar, that was unearthed during the survey.
